Job Opportunity: Therapist

Location: Juneau, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide psychiatric crisis evaluation, treatment planning, and individual/family/group therapy across emergency department, inpatient, and outpatient settings. Deliver brief, solution-focused behavioral health services while collaborating with psychiatry, mid-level providers, clinicians, and community partners. Maintain timely and accurate documentation using Meditech electronic medical records in compliance with CMS standards. Participate in hospital committees and support behavioral health service lines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual assessments including diagnosis, treatment planning, safety planning, and referrals.
  • Provide individual, group, conjoint, and family counseling as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams and community providers to deliver evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure documentation meets hospital and CMS standards using Meditech EMR.
  • Participate in hospital committees and foster strong relationships within behavioral health services.
  • May be required to float to different behavioral health areas once licensed.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a Behavioral Science field licensable in Alaska
  • Valid Mental Health license in Alaska
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in mental health, including experience within the last year
  • Must begin application for temporary QAP certification within 30 days of hire; full QAP process required if contract extends beyond 13 weeks or becomes permanent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire
  • TEAM/BERT certification within 90 days of hire

  • Shifts are variable, typically 8-hour shifts with on-call and weekend requirements.
  • Positions provide therapy services in inpatient and outpatient settings.
