Overview

• 8-week travel assignment in Galesburg, Illinois
• 12-hour night shifts
• 37-bed Med Surg RN department with private and semi-private rooms

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA)
• Negative drug screen for all panels
• Clinician’s last four digits of SSN
• Clinician’s middle initial
• Requested time off

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 7p–7:30a
• Every other weekend required
• May be required to work holidays, depending on schedule
• Self-scheduling is available, but schedules will be set by the manager due to the short contract
• Block scheduling may be accommodated if possible, while still meeting the weekend requirement

Unit Details

• Ratios: 1:5–6 on nights
• Charge nurse usually available 24/7 and may take patient assignments if needed
• CNA ratio: 1:10–15
• No call requirement
• No vents on the unit
• Tele patients are accepted and monitored centrally
• Common drips: Lasix and Heparin
• RT is available 24/7
• Pharmacy is available during the day, with ePharmacist support and nursing supervisor assistance as needed

Floating

• May float to another floor if competent to do so
• When floating, the nurse will always take a full patient assignment, including ICU RNs

Orientation

• 2 days in the department
• 1 day of hospital/EMR orientation

Patient Population

• COPD
• Sepsis
• CVA
• COVID
• Pneumonia
• Surgical patients, including hips, knees, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and bowel resections
