Tele Float RN

Overview

• Days, 12-hour shifts
• Full time
• Primary to a med/surg and telemetry unit, with required floating across all MS/Tele divisions and throughout Region Two if needed
• 4-5 patients per RN
• Every other weekend
• 1-2 winter holidays
• Up to 4 call or standby shifts during the contract
• Breaks must be taken when offered and cannot be refused

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• At least 2 years of acute care experience
• RN license
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Cannot have been full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year

Unit Details

• Med/Surg and Telemetry
• Telemetry is monitored remotely by telemetry techs, who read strips and RNs verify the reading
• RNs may be assigned as a CNA if needed
• RNs may be assigned as an entrance screener if needed
• No specific scrub color required

Patient Care / Clinical Scope

• Med Surg at SJMC consists of 6 telemetry units
• 7th Floor: surgical unit with abdominal surgeries, trauma, and Whipple cases; 36 beds
• 8BC: long-term low acuity unit for patients waiting for placement and on long-term antibiotic therapy; 17 beds
• 9th Floor: general medical cases, chronic and acute; 38 beds
• 2 South: short stay, cardiac, COVID unit; 41 beds
• 3 South: Neuro unit; 33 beds
• 4 South: ortho and spine unit; 21 beds
• Alternate assignments may include 10th floor Med Surg Oncology, ER Transition Unit, ERT, CDU, and MSW
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPap, and trachs; no vents

Floating

• Required to float to all MS/Tele divisions
• If needed, travelers will float throughout Region Two:

  • St. Clare Hospital – Lakewood, WA
  • St. Elizabeth Hospital – Enumclaw, WA
  • St Joseph Medical Center – Tacoma, WA

Orientation

• 4 hours each on 7th, 8BC, 9th, 2 South, 3 South, and 4 South
• Not oriented to alternate units
