Endoscopy RN

Overview

  • 13-week assignment in Bakersfield, California.
  • Day shift, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week.
  • Call is required.
  • The role may float between Endoscopy/GI lab locations on the same campus network.

Required Qualifications

  • California RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS.
  • At least 2 years of experience.
  • Experience with procedural sedation.
  • Call experience.

Unit Details

  • Endoscopy department with 2 suites.
  • Handles about 5–25 procedures per day.
  • Covers all 3 phases.
  • Common cases include EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, bronchs, EUS, and PEG.
  • Bedside procedures may be done in the ER and ICU when needed.
  • Techs are in every room except bronchs.

Scheduling and Call

  • Shift length is noted in the submission with varied start times.
  • No block scheduling.
  • Weeknight call is in rotation with other staff.
  • Weekend call is usually 1 day from 7a to 7a the next morning.
  • Holiday call is in rotation and includes 1 major holiday and 1 minor holiday.
  • Call response time is 30 minutes.

Additional Notes

  • OR scrubs are provided.
  • Orientation is usually 2–3 days, depending on experience and comfort level.
