Registered Nurse (PCU/IMC)

Location: Weston, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Intermediate Care (IMC)
• Number of Beds: 30
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, may stretch to 1:5 with sick call or added CNA support
• Patient Types: Cardiac, NSTEMI, post cath lab, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, sepsis
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, Optiflow
• Telemetry: Tele/Monitor techs present who read strips; RNs do not read their own strips
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a), no self-scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/Standby: Yes
• Floating: Required to float to Medical-Surgical or IMC overflow in ICU
• Orientation: Up to 3 days
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Certifications

• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• EKG Course

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience managing IV nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone
• Post cath lab experience is beneficial
• Arterial line experience appreciated but not required
• RNs are required to titrate drips including nitroglycerin, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
• Charge nurses take assignments (2 patients)

Additional Information

• Nurse aides are available with ratios of approximately 1:10-12 depending on census
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Prior work at this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• ACLS, BLS, and EKG certification as noted above

Notes

• This position requires flexibility to work variable day and night shifts
• Floating to other units as needed is part of the role
