Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend, with occasional holiday shifts and 2 extra shifts required every 6 weeks
Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Job Description

Seeking a traveling NICU nurse to provide care in a Level III high-risk NICU with 27 beds. The NICU follows AWHONN/NANN guidelines and includes a mix of continuous care, intermediate care, intensive care, and multi-system support care patients. Nurses may float occasionally to Mother-Baby or Labor & Delivery units to care for newborns and well babies but do not float to a mother/baby float pool.

Responsibilities include:

• Care for neonatal patients including those requiring ventilators and central lines
• Work independently with strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Participate in neonatal transport services as needed

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience (highest required years of experience)
• Certifications: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), ACLS
• Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% (open book)
• Valid driver’s license required at time of application
• Must comply with fingernail policy: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas

Additional Information

• Dress code: Navy scrubs
• Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any affiliated facilities within the health system
• Shifts typically run 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Floating to Mother-Baby or L&D units is routine; floating to other areas is rare but possible

Experience & Skills

• Experience working with the neonatal population
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Skilled in managing ventilators and central lines
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills

• This is a travel nursing position requiring flexibility and adaptability to a high-acuity NICU environment
• The facility is a Level III NICU with comprehensive OB and neonatal support services available 24/7
