Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Technologist

Location: Prescott, Arizona

  • Interventional Radiology (IR) experience preferred
  • Prior travel experience: Not specified (assumed not required)

  • BLS Certification

Work Environment & Unit Details

  • Unit: Cath Lab Tech
  • Number of rooms: 3 Cath Lab rooms + 1 Hybrid OR
  • Average cases per day: 13-26
  • Common patient diagnoses: STEMI, NSTEMI, CAD, PAD, PVD, CHF, Heart blocks, Cancer
  • Types of cases: Cardiac, peripheral vascular, Interventional Radiology, Pacemaker insertions

Job Duties

  • Control the C-arm during cases
  • Assist MDs during procedures (scrubbing)
  • Help with patient preparation
  • Duties within scope of practice

Technology & Equipment

  • EMR systems: Merge and Cerner
  • Hemodynamic monitoring equipment used
  • X-ray machines: Philips

Scheduling & Shifts

  • Shift pattern: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (4x10s)
  • Call requirements:
    • Usually 1 night call shift per week (weeknights)
    • Usually 1 weekend call per 4-week period
    • Holiday call distributed equally among staff
  • Call response time: 30 minutes
  • No floating requirements

Orientation

  • 1-2 days general orientation
  • 2 days unit-specific orientation

Additional Information

  • Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles
  • Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year
  • OR scrubs provided by hospital
  • Cardiologist coverage: 24/7 with call hours usually M-F 17:30-7:00, Sat and Sun 24 hours

Traveler friendly, good ratios, great scheduling, decent providers, Uses tiger text to communicate with most doctors. Plenty of hiking activities. Close to Sedona, Flagstaff and Phoenix. 5:1 Med/tele and 3:1 PCU.

Cons

Cost of living is High, roughly $2000-2500 for your own private space. Float between East and West Campus, 25 minutes apart, west will likely be where you spend 75% of your shifts so pick your housing accordingly.
