Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – Transfer Center Clinical

Location: Rancho Cordova, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work holidays if needed

Job Summary

• Facilitate patient transfers (any patient type) from hospitals both within and outside the health system.
• Manage cases post-intake, including patient assessments, vitals, and clinical information reporting.
• Coordinate with accepting physicians and specialists to secure patient acceptance and appropriate bed placement.
• Use multiple computer applications including Cerner, TeleTracking, Tiger Connect (for physician communication), and Google apps for case management.
• No direct hands-on patient care involved.
• Average workload: 12 cases per shift, managing 10-15 cases simultaneously.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
• Critical care assessment skills
• Experience with Cerner and Epic electronic medical records systems
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Orientation & Training

• 1 day of general hospital orientation.
• 3-5 days of department-specific orientation/training, which may occur on any shift.

Work Environment & Additional Information

• Dress code: Clean, professional scrubs of any color; casual wear such as jeans (no rips/tears) and clean hoodies without large writing are allowed.
• Limited ability to return to office (RTO); remote work accommodations are rare.
• Free onsite parking and 4 hours of free electric vehicle charging available.
• Café closes at 2:30 pm.
• Supervisors and leadership team available for support.

Scheduling & Flexibility

• Must be available for scheduling any day of the week.
• No floating assignments.

Testing & Screening Requirements

• Must pass a dyslexia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed).
• Candidates cannot have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by the health system or its affiliates within the past year (PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable).
• Two supervisory references required: one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years.

This role is ideal for RNs with acute care and transfer center experience who are comfortable managing multiple cases remotely and coordinating complex patient transfers without direct bedside care.
