ICU RN

Overview

• Travel ICU RN assignment in Illinois
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour shifts
• Start: ASAP
• 8 ICU beds

Required Qualifications

• Illinois RN license required to submit
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• 2+ years of ICU experience
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Expected to run codes

Preferred

• Previous travel experience
• Code Blue Command RN experience
• Phlebotomy experience
• Meditech experience

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, general medical, general surgical, stroke (TNK), DKA, PNA, and ETOH withdrawal
• Post cath recovery for radial/femoral sites
• No CVOR
• No CRRT
• No abdominal surgical
• ICU RNs run codes
• Tele is attached to the unit and RN's are responsible for strips
• No monitor tech
• Hospitalist available 24/7, with in-house coverage during the day
• RT equipment available
• Care Support/Unit Secretary/CNA available when acuity warrants
• ER nurse can be used as backup
• Floating may include MedSurg, Tele, and ER with full patient load

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: 0700-1930 or 1900-0730
• Scheduled on shifts most in need
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation
• No call or standby for agency

Orientation

• 2 12-hour shifts
• Resource available for documentation

Additional Notes

• Any color professional scrubs
• Core staff would take a balloon pump if needed
• EICU at night for 6 of the 8 beds
• Previous employment at any FHN Memorial location must be disclosed for a DNU check
