Role Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced Telemetry nurse.
• Unit: Tele 4th floor, 34 beds.
• Cardiac Tele floor with high-acuity telemetry, more PCU/stepdown.

Required Qualifications

• Valid California RN license.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• 2 years of telemetry experience.
• Telemetry experience within the last year.
• Active BLS.
• Active ACLS.
• NIHSS.
• Stepdown experience.
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience.
• Stroke experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cerner EMR experience.

Schedule

• 13-week contract.
• Nights, 12-hour shifts.
• 36 hours per week.
• Start dates listed: 10/26, 11/9, 11/30, 12/14.
• Weekend requirement: 2 weekends every 4 weeks.
• Holidays: one major and two minor holidays, same as core staff.

Unit Details

• Ratios: 1:4.
• Charge nurse each shift; typically does not take patients.
• Nurse aides are available, but not guaranteed.
• Tele monitoring uses GE; nurses must be able to read and interpret their own strips.
• Vent support includes bi-pap.
• Hospitalist in house 24/7.
• RT 24/7 and Pharmacy 24/7.
• No IV team.
• Floating: first to float to MS Tele floors 5th, 6th, and 7th.
• Common patient types include post CVA, r/o CHF, respiratory failure, DM, HTN, non-titrating drips, post-ops, some post cardiac caths, and post PCI patients.

Additional Notes

• 50-mile radius rule.
• Cannot be perm or per diem at another CommonSpirit facility within the past 12 months.
• Cannot have a second job and must prioritize the travel assignment schedule.
• No block or set scheduling.
• Standby response time is 30 minutes.
• Cerner experience affects orientation length: 2 shifts with Cerner experience, 3 without.
• Travelers may not always have a nurse aide and may need to provide primary nursing.
• Extra shifts may be available at times.
