Overview

• Critical Access Hospital setting

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nevada
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NRP
• Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Experience working with Neonate patients
• Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
• Ability to function in L&D, postpartum, and sick-baby nursery roles
• Ability to interpret fetal heart rate strips and identify major and life-threatening rhythms
• Experience with Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate titration
• Experience stabilizing and preparing sick neonates for transport

Preferred Qualifications

• STABLE

Schedule

• 3 x 12-hour shifts
• Start time: 7:00–7:30
• 36 hours per week
• Modified self-scheduling
• Every other weekend
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation

Unit Details

• 4 LDRPs
• 2 postpartum beds
• 1 exam room that can be used as an LDRP
• No designated triage area; triage is done in all rooms
• Approx. 20 births per month / 200 per year
• Staffed with 2 nurses per shift
• No charge nurse on the unit

Clinical Setting

• Low-risk labor is common
• Rare high-risk OB cases are stabilized and transferred
• Common patient types include antepartum testing, postpartum couplets, well nursery, and sick nursery patients
• RN should be comfortable caring for sick babies prior to transport
• C-sections are supported by the OR team; OB nurse receives the baby

Floating

• May float to MS, ER, or LTC as a sitter or helping hands
• May return to the unit for laboring patients

Other Details

• No call or standby requirement
• Housing leads are available; candidate should confirm housing options in the area
• Unit orientation includes 1 day of general orientation and 1–2 shifts with a preceptor
