Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVOR) – Travel Assignment

Job Details

• Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shifts, 10 hours per day, approximately 40 hours per week
• Schedule:

  • 10-hour varied shifts with call if cases run long
  • Staff required to cover 3 weekend shifts per month (including 1 weekend call per month)
  • Overnight call once a week
  • Holidays rotate with core staff
• Operating Room Details:

  • 4 suites
  • 4-6 surgeries per day (heart surgeries such as CABG, valve procedures; no thoracic surgeries)
  • Very busy, fast-paced environment
  • Must scrub during cases
  • Telemetry skills required (ability to read and interpret EKG strips)
  • Ventilator experience helpful but not required
  • Surgeon available 24/7 during regular hours; on call overnight and weekends
  • Respiratory therapy and pharmacy available 24/7
  • No IV team support
• Orientation: 1-2 days floor-specific orientation in OR with preceptor

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of CVOR nursing experience
• Active California RN license
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications
• Strong CVOR skills and confidence in clinical abilities
• Must provide 2 supervisory references at time of application:

  • 1 reference within the last 12 months
  • 1 reference within the last 3 years

Additional Information

• Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner
• Charge nurse oversees overall OR
• Nurse aides are Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs)
• Scrub color provided by facility

This position is suitable for both first-time travel nurses and experienced travelers.
