Dialysis RN Travel Opportunity
Location: Williston, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Dialysis RN
- Required Experience: Must have chronic dialysis experience (years not explicitly stated, assume minimum 1+ year dialysis experience)

Work Environment & Patient Population
- Department: Outpatient Dialysis
- Unit licensed for 7 chairs (two pods: one with 3 patients, one with 4 patients)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
- Patient Population: Adults to geriatrics, mixture of catheters and fistulas
- Common Medications: Heparin, Hep B vaccine, Flu vaccine, Zemplar, Ferleccit, cinacalcet, midodrine, darbepoetin alfa, PRN meds (Tylenol, Zofran, occasional antibiotics)
- Equipment: Fresenius 2008T dialysis machines
- EMR System: Clarity
- Nephrologist onsite 2 days/month; otherwise available by phone
- Charge Nurse present on each shift
- No Medical Assistants, CNAs, or Patient Care Techs; staffed with RNs and 1 LPN
Scheduling & Shifts
- Shift Types:
- Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday: 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, or 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Rotating weekends required
- Every other holiday required
- Minimum 36 hours guaranteed, but must be willing to pick up additional shifts as needed to cover sick calls or emergencies
- Team scheduling with 2 nurses minimum on the floor at all times; 3 nurses during shift changes
- No call or standby requirement
- Scrub color: Any
Orientation & Training
- Unit-specific orientation: 3 shifts (12 hours each) with another RN on the floor; may vary based on experience
- Training provided for reading water room and using bicarbonate mixer
Additional Notes
- ER and Code team available for patient emergencies
- Next closest Kidney Dialysis Unit is a 2-hour drive away; some patients travel up to 5 hours for dialysis
- Attributes for success: teamwork, motivation, compassionate care, patient safety, attention to infection control
- Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility in the past 12 months
- Return to Office (RTO) needed upfront; no additional RTO approved after submission
