Job Opportunity: EP RN - Tacoma, Washington

Position Overview

  • Role: Experienced Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN)
  • Location: Tacoma, Washington
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Orientation: 1 week unit/department-specific orientation
  • Work Setting: Combined Cath Lab and EP unit

Experience & Certifications Required

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Active BLS, ACLS, and Washington RN license required
  • Experience with sedation and Phase 1 recovery preferred
  • ICU or PACU experience is a plus
  • EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred
  • Techs require RCIS, RT, or RCE certification and Cath Lab/EP experience

Unit Details

Cath Lab and EP Unit

  • Suites: 2 Cath Lab suites, 1 vascular suite
  • Average Cases: 22 total cases per day (Cath Lab and EP combined)
  • Common Procedures: Right and left heart catheterizations (with or without intervention), structural heart and vascular cases (e.g., TAVR, mitral clip)
  • Job Duties: Circulating, prep, and recovery experience preferred; techs scrub and document
  • Call Requirement: Yes, call starts after 5:30 PM, average 8 call days per month
  • Weekend Call: 1 weekend per 4-week schedule (Friday-Sunday)
  • Call Response Time: 30 minutes
  • Shifts: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM plus call time
  • Floating: May assist in EP lab cases; all suites operate as one team
  • Dress Code: Scrubs provided
  • Additional Notes: May work past scheduled hours to complete cases; teamwork essential

Electrophysiology (EP) Unit

  • Suites: 3 EP suites
  • Average Cases: 22 total cases per day (shared with Cath Lab)
  • Common Procedures: Ablations, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter; advanced EP lab cases
  • Job Duties: Circulating, assisting; core staff handles most documentation
  • Call Requirement: No call required
  • Weekend/Holiday: No call; weekend work on a volunteer basis for emergencies; closed on holidays
  • Shifts: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, may stay late if cases added
  • Floating: Expected to assist across suites as part of a one-team approach; not required to scrub in
  • Dress Code: Scrubs provided
  • Additional Notes: High case backlog due to COVID-19; preference for candidates seeking extra hours; strong teamwork and patient-first mentality required

Additional Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccination required
  • Must be a team player, flexible with workload and scheduling
  • Experience with GE imaging equipment and St Jude, Webster EP equipment is a plus

This position is ideal for EP RNs with solid Cath Lab and EP experience, who are comfortable with call responsibilities (Cath Lab) or prefer no call (EP unit), and who thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
