Nurse Manager – LDRP/FBC

Location: Grass Valley, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks (travel assignment)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced LDRP/FBC Interim Nurse Manager for a travel assignment in a rural hospital setting. The role involves managing a low/moderate acuity labor and delivery unit with 8 beds/rooms, focusing on labor & delivery including c-sections (no vaginal births after cesarean), outpatient stress tests, and postpartum follow-ups.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the Department Nurse Manager for the LDRP/FBC unit
• Provide leadership and management for the unit, including call/standby leadership responsibilities
• Oversee patient care for low/moderate acuity labor and delivery patients
• Manage staffing and scheduling, including working 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s)
• Collaborate with shared anesthesia resources after hours
• Use Cerner EMR system
• Maintain professional attire and adhere to dress code
• Work 8-hour shifts including weekends and call; first to float if needed

Patient Population & Environment

• Low/moderate acuity labor and delivery patients, including c-sections (no VBACs)
• Outpatient visits for stress tests and postpartum follow-ups such as bilirubin checks
• Rural setting with limited resources and challenges related to patient transport and late presentations
• No dedicated 24/7 anesthesia; shared single resource after hours

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a nurse manager role, including management experience within the last year
• Experience in LDRP (Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum) nursing
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current BLS certification

Additional Information

• Holiday time off will be considered but is not guaranteed
• Orientation for the facility-wide system is held in Sacramento (not local)
• No Medical Assistants or CNAs used in the Family Birth Center
• Professional dress code required
