Job Opportunity: Cardiac Services Technologist

Location: Soldotna, Alaska
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Summary

Under general supervision, provide technical support and assistance to physicians during diagnostic and invasive cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures. Responsibilities include scrub and hemodynamic monitoring duties during cardiac catheterizations, vascular, and interventional radiology procedures. Assist in the holding area and provide care assessment before, during, and after procedures, including patient instruction. Prepare and maintain all pertinent procedural information.


Work Schedule

  • Five 8-hour shifts per week (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
  • On-call as needed
  • Some weekends may be required (based on staffing)

Unit/Department Details

  • Unit size: 4-6 beds/rooms
  • Dress code: Scrubs
  • Orientation: Includes a service partner orientation on the first day onsite plus department-specific training

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved school of radiologic technology
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in diagnostic and/or interventional cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology lab (higher experience requirement applies)
  • Certification:
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or exam eligible at time of hire or
    • Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT) with 4 years of cath lab experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in:
    • Basic cardiac physiology/pathology
    • 12-Lead EKG interpretation
    • Physiologic monitoring including intracardiac pressure waveform knowledge
    • Pacemaker operations (implantable and external)
    • Use of radiographic equipment related to cardiac care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years combined experience in cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology lab
  • ARRT Advanced Level Certification in Cardiac Interventional Radiography
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist

Equipment Used

  • EPIC electronic medical record system

Additional Information

  • Call is required as this is a new service line (staffing and call schedule to be determined)
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Overtime paid after 8 hours/day and 40 hours/week

Notes

  • This is a new service line with an anticipated start-up date; early hiring preferred to complete training
  • No floating to other units identified at this time
