Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 11 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (overnight shift)


Job Summary

  • Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Rotate working weekends.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
  • Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
  • Work requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
  • Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certification

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) current certification.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (CPI).
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.

  • Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documentation.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
  • Proof of two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
  • 2-step PPD or IGRA testing for tuberculosis with annual TB questionnaire.
  • Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within one year.
  • Fit test for respiratory protection, updated annually.
  • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
