RN Emergency Room

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Shift: 07:00 - 19:30
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work every other week (EOW) or based on department needs; every other holiday (EOH) rotating with regular staff.
• Provide care for critical care patients in the Emergency Department.
• Ability to care for psychiatric and pediatric patient populations.
• Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills required.
• Must demonstrate clear, timely communication and team collaboration.
• Responsible for escalating concerns appropriately to ensure patient safety.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
• May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles if needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of 2 or more travel nursing assignments
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• MOAB certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Valid Driver’s License

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Submission of current RN license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
• Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references required prior to assignment.
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other screenings within 90 days of start; updated annually or after breaks in service.
• Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days of start; updated annually or after breaks in service.
• Completion of specialty competency exams and skills checklists with minimum passing scores (updated every 3 years or annually as required).
• Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics within one year of start; updated every 3 years.
• Completion of EPIC test-out and training checklist with signed attestation prior to assignment.
• Ascension-specific onboarding education attestations and contract worker onboarding completed onsite.
• Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter; retesting required after breaks in service.
• Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address on file.

• Must be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced emergency environment.
• Flexibility to float to other units or nearby sites as needed.
• Strong documentation and clinical judgment skills essential for patient safety.
