Job Opportunity: Surgical Assistant (Travel)
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Rotating
Hours: 36 hours guaranteed (may work up to 40)
Shift Length: 8, 10, or 12 hour shifts depending on department needs
Requirements
- Certifications:
- NBSTSA - CSFA or NCCSA - CSA (National Certification)
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years recent Surgical Assistant experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- COVID-19 Vaccine (optional)
- N-95 Fit Testing within the past 12 months (specific mask models required)
- Proof of immunizations or titers (no declinations allowed):
- MMR
- Hepatitis B
- Influenza Vaccine (seasonal, no declinations)
- Varicella
- Tdap
- TB Test (Two Step Skin Test or equivalent within 12 months)
- Annual TB Questionnaire (within past 12 months)
- Drug Screen (Rapid 10 panel within 60 days prior to start)
- 7-year Criminal Background Check (county, state, national, federal)
- Driver's License/State ID
- Professional references (2 required)
- Various Hawaii Pacific Health forms including confidentiality, dress code, education and employment verification, orientation acknowledgement, and traveler attestation packet
- Skills and competency checklists and exams as required by the facility

Pros
Traveler friendly, awesome staff in the OR! They were kind and fun to work with. Everyone works well together and takes great care of the patients. Management was nice. Beautiful weather.
Cons
Crackheads outside of the hospital, dirty needles in the streets, tons of homeless people around the hospital area. Rotating 8 hour shifts were tough. Honolulu is super crowded and traffic is a nightmare.
