Job Opportunity: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Job Description

• Perform accurate and precise laboratory testing to assist in patient care.
• Assist in all laboratory service functions.
• Conduct laboratory tests following established procedures and comply with State and Federal regulations.
• Perform blood collection techniques including venipuncture, capillary, and pediatric collections.
• Review test results and logs for technical or clerical errors.
• Generate complete and accurate reports.
• Verify, report, and document alarm values promptly.
• Participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) studies.
• Perform and review Quality Control values.
• Maintain inventory of technical supplies.
• Perform and document daily and periodic maintenance and calibrations on instruments.
• Troubleshoot and document instrument problems; use hotline and call-in service as needed.
• Assist others with their duties when necessary.
• Adapt to changes in duties, calls, and shifts during emergencies.
• Maintain good working relationships with physicians, outside facilities, and the public.
• Maintain satisfactory attendance and availability for on-call duties.
• Comply with department, hospital policies, OSHA standards, and universal precautions.
• Assist management, pathologists, and leadership as requested.
• Help train and guide new staff technologists.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) license or certification as required by Massachusetts regulations.
• Must have flu vaccine (required during flu season: Sept 15 - April 30). No exemptions allowed.
• Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity required.
• Documentation of TB test (skin or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break.
• Physician health statement within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break.
• Professional license verification and primary source verification required within 30 days of start date. MA Conditional Licenses are not accepted.
• Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks required within specified timeframes.
• Submission of resume with past 7 years of work experience including city and state.
• Two recent references required, with at least one supervisor or above in the skillset.
• Completion of skills checklist required.
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit testing is required for the role.

Additional Information

• 40 hours per week.
• Shared housing available (no guests or pets; must have own transportation).
• Flexibility required for shift changes and emergency situations.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
