Job Opportunity: Adult Psych RN

Location

Employment Type

• Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Rotating shifts for Day Rotate (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a)
• Rotation every other week (EOW)
• Night shifts do not rotate
• Shift duration: 36 hours per week
• Typically no more than 2-3 shifts per time block (4-week blocks)

Unit Description

• 30-bed adult psychiatric unit
• Patient age range: 18 to 65 years
• Patient population includes diverse mental health diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis patients (including detox), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, wound care, diabetic care)

Patient Ratio

• 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

• EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Psychiatric nursing experience of at least 2 years, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with adult patients in an inpatient setting
• Experience in charge nurse roles
• Knowledge of laws pertaining to guardianship and healthcare proxy (invoked vs confirmed)
• Knowledge of laws pertaining to court-ordered medication

Additional Required Credentials and Health Requirements (must be current and verified)

• Primary source verification of professional license and certifications (NURSYS and Board of Nursing required)
• Fit test for N95 respirator within 365 days prior to start and updated annually (no exemptions allowed)
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required)
• Medication exam with 80% passing score within 365 days
• Documentation of immunity or vaccination for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
• Tuberculosis (TB) test documentation within 3 months of start date and updated if break >6 months
• Physician health statement within 365 days of start date and updated if break >6 months
• Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start and updated if break >6 months
• Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start and updated if break >6 months
• Education verification of highest level achieved
• Social Security Number trace with criminal check
• National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
• Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start and annually
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission
• Submission of resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
• Two professional references within 4 years (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset)
• Candidate submission coversheet for initial assignment and new facility submissions
• Confirmation of assignment/POI form upon acceptance and for extensions

Floating

• Floating to other units is required

• AVADE training
• Lead EKG training

This position is suitable for experienced adult psychiatric RNs comfortable with rotating shifts and working in a diverse mental health setting with some medically complex patients.
