Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Description

• Work hours: 1800-0630 with every 3rd Friday/Saturday/Sunday evening on holiday rotation (includes at least 1 holiday during assignment).
• Two RNs will care for medical-surgical patients; when an emergency department (ED) patient arrives, one RN will move to the ED side to provide care.
• Average daily census (ADC) is approximately 3 patients.

Required Qualifications

• License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Iowa.
• Experience: Minimum years of experience not explicitly stated; assume standard RN Emergency Room competency required.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association certification required.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - required for ED RNs.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certificate accepted.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) required.
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required.
• Health and Safety:

  • Fit test for respiratory protection.
  • 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC).
  • COVID-19 vaccine or approved exemption/declination (with agency letterhead).
  • MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, and Tdap vaccinations or documented immunity/declination as applicable.
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) tuberculosis test.
  • Physical/Health statement confirming fitness to work within the last year.

Additional Requirements

• License and certification verifications must be dated within 30 days of start.
• Background checks including federal, nationwide, county criminal, sex offender, dependent adult & child abuse registries, and other professional screenings must be current (within 30 days).
• Completion of professional forms related to confidentiality, code of conduct, conflict of interest, and integrity/audit services.
• Specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist within the last year.
• Completion of system access and other onboarding documentation prior to start.
• Iowa-specific child and adult dependent abuse training required.

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
