Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (1 year of experience)
- Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- CST or NBSTSA
Clinical Skills / Case Experience
- Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
- Appendectomy
- Cholecystectomy
- Colon resection, open and laparoscopic
- Hernia repair, inguinal/umbilical
- Thyroidectomy, partial/total
- Abdominal hysterectomy
- Anterior/posterior repair (colporrhaphy)
- Bilateral tubal ligation
- Dilation & curettage
- Vaginal hysterectomy
- Arthroscopy
- Closed/open reduction of fractures
- Total hip replacement
- Total knee replacement
- Gynecologic robotic surgery
- Cystoscopy
- Nephrectomy
- Prostatectomy
- Transurethral resection of the prostate
Schedule / Assignment Notes
- All requested time off must be submitted with the application
- Time off requested after an offer will not be approved
- Traveler is responsible for covering any additional shifts
- Call-out/call-off policy: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
Compliance / Onboarding Requirements
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID
- Background check within 1 year of start, covering all locations lived/worked/in school for the past 7 years, with annual updates
- EPLS/GSA/SAM screening before start
- HHS/OIG screening before start
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Facility code of conduct acknowledgement
- Patient abuse reporting acknowledgement
- Confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement
- Orientation packet, self-study quiz, and acknowledgements
- Annual tuberculosis screening questionnaire
- Full physical exam within 12 months of start, signed by a licensed provider
- Fit test within 12 months of start, then annually
- Tdap within the last 10 years or declination
- TB test within 1 year of start, or chest x-ray if previously positive
- Measles and rubella immunity documentation
- Mumps immunity status must be provided
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella immunity documentation
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID vaccine records or declination
- 2 professional references within 3 years of hire
- Skills checklist
- New York nurse aide registry check
- New York State Medicaid exclusion list check
Additional Training / Testing
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam
- General competency exam
- Conscious sedation competency exam is required for RNs in certain departments
- Stroke education and NIH Stroke Scale training requirements apply as specified by unit
