Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Must have 2 years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics.
  • Required experience includes ICU and Emergency Department (ED); NICU experience preferred.
  • Must have Epic electronic health record system experience.
  • Weekend work required every other weekend.
  • No on-call requirement.
  • No float requirement.
  • Accepts first-time travel therapists (no prior travel experience required).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Certifications required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation.
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
  • Required federal and state screenings (E-Verify, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search).
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
  • Immunizations and testing:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines.
    • Annual TB questionnaire.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low.
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination.
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low.
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date).

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days.
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months of start.
  • Must comply with employee appearance policy.
  • Required to complete medication/pharmacology competency exams and other core competencies annually with a minimum score of 80%.

Notes

  • This position is for a travel/contract Registered Respiratory Therapist working nights.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.
  • Weekend shifts are mandatory every other weekend.
  • Epic system experience is mandatory.
  • Louisiana license must be active and in hand before starting the assignment.
