Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Issaquah, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40
Job Overview
- Work primarily in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology, Gynecology, Spine, ENT, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, OB-GYN, Plastics, Robotics, Trauma, and Vascular surgery.
- Circulating and scrub roles with preference for scrub experience in trauma and ENT with endoscope experience.
- Patient population: 30% inpatient, 70% outpatient, 10% pediatrics.
- May require on-call availability and weekend coverage for on-call support only.
- Floating to other campuses may be required.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in specialty.
- Accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required).
- Orthopedics and sports medicine experience required; scrub experience preferred.
- Required skills:
- Robotics
- Procedure sedation
- Blood/blood products administration
- Management of drains and epidural pumps
- PICC/Central lines, Port-A-Cath, and vascular device access/care
- Wound VAC management
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
- Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) but not mandatory unless specified.
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in Washington State or compact license accepted.
- NURSYS verification required.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required.
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report.
- WA State Patrol Search required within 90 days of start and updated every 2 years for certain facility types.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instants acceptable.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work.
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates (updated annually).
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented declinations accepted:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; updated annually.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned LMS platform.
- Photo for badge with neutral background required.
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other facilities within reasonable distance.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification.
- Orthopedics experience.
Notes
- Previous permanent staff at this facility are not eligible to work as travelers here.
- Active compact nursing licenses are honored.
- Candidates must be prepared for a mix of inpatient, outpatient, and pediatric cases.
