Pediatric Cardiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role involves pre and post-anesthesia care for cardiovascular, electrophysiology (EP), and interventional catheterization procedures.
- Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatric congenital cardiac patients.
- Includes care for sedated studies, clinic visits, and cardiac surgical workups.
- Requires strong knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
- Perform 2-3 patient visits per day under limited supervision.
Schedule
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Staff typically stay until the last patient is discharged or admitted; rarely past 7:00 PM.
- Minimum of 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per month required.
- No weekend, on-call, or floating requirements.
- Scheduling is self-managed within the team; final schedule approved by manager.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina.
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience, with pediatric experience within the last year.
- Pediatric Cardiology experience.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association.
- PALS certification issued by American Heart Association.
Experience & Travel Requirements
- Prior travel experience is not required.
- First-time travelers accepted.
Additional Requirements & Notes
- Must comply with a 60-mile radius rule for travel.
- Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- All employees and contractors are assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November), with peak activity in August and September.
- Radiation badge not required for this position.
- Must provide:
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID.
- Copy of Social Security Card.
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9 form and E-Verify attestation).
- Proof of education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder.
- Two clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Complete employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps.
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge (frontal view, shoulders up, business casual attire).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions prior to start is mandatory.
- COVID-19 vaccination is highly preferred but not required; if declined, a vaccination declination form must be completed.
- Must complete annual TB questionnaire.
Compliance & Background Checks
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including:
- SSN trace
- Statewide and national criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals.
- Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers required.
