Registered Nurse – ER (Night Shift) – Maryland, Randallstown
Job Details
- Position: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)
- Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Contract Length: 14 weeks
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:6 depending on unit
- Unit Highlights:
- Primary Stroke Center (Gold status with American Heart Association)
- STEMI cases with catheterization intervention support
- Two locked behavioral health units in the ED (ratio 1:6)
- Two rapid evaluation units for urgent and critical care needs
- Supported by ED staffing and security teams
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (valid driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification and accreditation confirmation for nursing programs (especially if education was completed outside Maryland)
- State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification (for RNs)
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, and rubella (boosters required if negative)
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (boosters required if negative)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
- Respirator fit test (for new contracts; completed onsite; annual renewal required for some)
- EKG/Orientation pass/fail testing acknowledgment and compliance with exam attempts and remediation policies
- Stroke and Trauma CEUs as required by unit (stroke CEUs must be stroke-related and updated annually; trauma CEUs required after 27 weeks of work and renewed annually)
- Attendance, floating, and time and attendance policies must be reviewed and signed
- Photo for badge and parking registration form must be completed
- Employment application and work history verification (minimum 2 employers in last 7 years or supervisor references)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

- Facility provides radiation badges for applicable roles (not for new candidates as of 3/28/23).
- Candidates must be prepared for potential behavioral health patient care in locked units.
