Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2+ years
- Schedule: Rotating days off (no set or consecutive days), on-call 2–3 days per month, weekends and holidays as needed
- First-Timer OK
- Local candidates within 75 miles considered
Unit & Specialty Details
- Unit: Operating Room
- Special Procedures/Units include: Neurology, Oral, ENT, Orthopedics, General, Bariatrics, Urology, GYN, Vascular, Robotics, Plastics, Dental, Podiatry
- Special Equipment used: Intuitive DaVinci XI, Neptune, Electrical Surgical Unit, Smoke Free Cautery Devices, Stryker Video Tower, Tourniquet, Cori Orthopedic Robot, Olympus Endoscopy Tower, Globus
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background checks including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and others as required within 90 days of start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Flu seasonal vaccination (mandatory for new candidates during flu season)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Polio vaccine or attestation
- Two professional references from employment within 12 months, at least one supervisor
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
Orientation & Onboarding
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Scrubs provided
- Candidate must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required
- Completion of online modules prior to orientation
Additional Notes
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding requirements including competency checklists and training modules
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
