Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 5x8 hour shifts
- Patient Ratios: 1:20-25
- Start Date: ASAP (typically 3-4 weeks from offer for compliance)
- Weekend Requirement: Variable
- On-Call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to adult inpatient, Emergency Department (ED), and Pediatrics
- Block Scheduling: Possibly available by request
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending License Accepted: Yes (must have application submitted and received by licensing board for 90-day license exemption)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of case management experience, including acute hospital case management within the last year
- Experience in inpatient case management with demonstrated skills
- Experience working with adult and pediatric patients in an inpatient setting
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP certification
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications & Licenses
Required:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Oregon
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider only
Preferred/Additional:
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only
Facility & Work Environment
- Type: Short-Term Acute Care
- Magnet recognized, Teaching hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Charting system: Epic
- Patient population includes adult inpatient, ED, and pediatrics
- Staff ratios and workload consistent with acute care case management
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day
- Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification
- National sex offender search and other federal exclusions screenings required
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start
- Physical exam and fit mask testing required (fit testing must be completed prior to start)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination/declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline December 1, 2025)
- Completion of facility-specific compliance modules prior to start (privacy, security, respect, etc.)
- Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date
- Facility requires professional appearance policy to be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Orientation includes completion of specific training modules and receipt of badge on first day
- Floating within adult inpatient, ED, and pediatric units may be required to meet facility needs
