Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse with strong orthopedic, neurological, and general scrubbing skills. Candidates must be proficient in all three areas.
Schedule
- 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- Call rotation with staff, including occasional weekends and holidays
- Weekend rotation required
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
Required Clinical Skills
- Circulate and scrub experience, including total joints, craniotomies/neuro, and ortho trauma
- Orthopedic and neurological experience required
Patient Population
- Neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, geriatrics
Unit Details
- Level I trauma OR with 25 OR suites
- 24/7 on-site nursing coverage
- Services include general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine
- Special equipment: ROSA, daVinci robots (Si and Xi), stealth, O-Arm, HIPEC
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC as applicable by unit (American Heart Association certifications preferred)
License Requirements
- Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required
- Pending licenses accepted only if holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
Additional Requirements
- 2 clinical references required
- Complete application/resume required
- Background check covering 7 years of history required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Fit test within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Immunizations or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B
- TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Compliance with facility-specific orientation and documentation requirements
Experience and Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Orthopedics experience
- Neurosurgery experience
- Neuro scrubbing experience
- Experience scrubbing total joints
- Experience scrubbing craniotomies
- Experience scrubbing neuro procedures
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Experience
- Strong orthopedic and neurological OR experience required
- Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted
Notes
- No local candidates accepted due to radius restrictions
- Call-off policy allows 1 shift off per 2 weeks
- All requests for time off must be included in submission

Some units will work with schedules, float pool is not worth it, The Mountain and West of the building is very much harder work.
Cons
Patients are very thankful, Doctors are available, pay is good. The Cafe is good. I would work here if this hospital was else where.
