Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2-3 patients
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (based on unit needs)
• No on-call required
• Opportunity to float to other units or locations within the region
• No call shifts; out of hurricane season
• Must be available to work holidays as needed
• Guaranteed contracted hours

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• Certifications required:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must be renewed annually)

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:

  • Social Security Trace
  • County, State, Nationwide checks
  • Sex Offender Registry
  • Education verification (international searches required)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check required within 90 days of start
• Monthly HHS/OIG checks required
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance; clearance can take up to 10 days or longer if prior hits)
• Education verification required; candidates from certain disqualified institutions will not be accepted
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (required by Florida law for all patient-facing staff)
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific mask types required; must be fully shaven; no PAPR alternatives)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start (QGold preferred; 2 negative PPDs accepted; Tspot not accepted)
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Titers required within 5 years for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (both quantitative and qualitative accepted)
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests)

Additional Requirements

• Clear, passport-style photo with white background for badge
• Completion of facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgement, confidentiality agreement, values attestation, and badge form
• Auto insurance required if working in home health settings
• Radiation badge monitoring form required for certain departments (Radiology, Cath Lab, OR, Pain Clinic) if applicable
