Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Aldie, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Hospice
• Shift: Day shift, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (8 hours/day)
• Schedule: Every 3rd weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
• Average Patient Load: 5-7 admissions per day (to be confirmed during interview)
• Type of Cases: Admissions
• EMR System: Netsmart
• Territory: Up to 60-mile radius from the office; flexibility with territory expected
• Dress Code: Scrubs of any color; no jeans allowed
• Technology Provided: iPad provided; cell phone use not allowed
• Mileage: Reimbursed at IRS standard rate
• Locals Accepted: Yes, at travel rate

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of recent Hospice Palliative Care RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• E-Verify or attestation required
• 7-year background check within 30 days of start, updated annually, including:

  • Social Security trace and county searches for last 7 years
  • Nationwide sex offender and criminal database checks
  • Virginia State Police background check and sex offender search (for Virginia placements)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint results required for Florida placements (not applicable here)
• Fingerprinting requirements for tracking only; must be cleared prior to start
• Photo for badge: passport-style, front-facing, solid light background, no filters

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
• Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year of start (can be completed onsite)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (positive titers required; boosters if low/equivocal)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes; annual TB questionnaire if past positive
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, marijuana, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required annually (flu season Oct 1 – Apr 1)
• COVID vaccine or facility-specific declination required
