Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Shift: Nights
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs between like units
- Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating
- Locals Accepted: No (50-mile radius rule)
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- National Tech Certification Verification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
Additional Requirements
- Background check within 6 months of start (including SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable)
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by a physician, NP, or PA-C
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days
- Immunizations and titers:
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines required)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines required)
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted)
- Flu vaccine required year-round or signed exemption form (medical or religious)
- COVID-19 vaccine not required but accepted if available
Competency & Testing
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual renewal required)
- Pass/Fail Testing for EKG/Medication awareness (3 attempts allowed, remediation required after failures)
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Guaranteed hours after call-off policy met (2 shifts per 13-week assignment)
- Floating between similar units as needed
- Must comply with facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
