Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Position: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Floating: May float to ED observation unit
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Targeted Start Date: 4/21 starts only
- Interview: Phone interview
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level II Trauma patients
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- CHEMO certification
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- North Carolina RN license or Compact RN license required and must be in hand
Additional Requirements
- Flu Vaccine: Required; no exemptions or declinations accepted
- Scrubs: Royal Blue color required
- Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions available
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, motor/traffic violations, education verification, and sanction list searches must be completed within 90 days of start.
- Physical exam required within 12 months of start.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive antibody titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (2025-26 season) mandatory, no exemptions
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months, with at least one supervisor reference.
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually.
Notes
- Candidates must set up a guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.
- Competency exams and unit-specific training will be required.
- CPI training is provided onsite during orientation if not already completed.
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation.
- All required documents must be submitted and approved before the start date.
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Room RNs with Level II Trauma experience seeking a travel contract in North Carolina.
