Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Location

  • Tyler, Texas

Employment Type

  • Travel / Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Evening shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday
  • 40 hours per week

Unit and Case Mix

  • Heavy Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology
  • Additional cases include Vascular, Robotic, Neurosurgery, and some Ophthalmology
  • No cardiac or transplant cases
  • Level 1 trauma center

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience
  • Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender registry, education verification, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Education verification with transcript or diploma if needed
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Negative 2-step TB test, QGOLD, or TSPOT within 1 year; additional requirements if positive
  • Immunizations/vaccine requirements:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Skills checklist and work history verification (7 years)
  • Completion of employment application/resume

Additional Notes

  • Call required as part of the shift schedule
  • Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this travel contract
  • Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
  • Color blindness testing and medication/pharmacology competency exams may be required as applicable
  • Facility-specific photo for badge required
