Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May float within scope depending on experience; no floating to sister facilities
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Radius Rule: 60 miles; local candidates considered case-by-case
Facility Highlights

- Total staffed beds: 865
- Electronic health record system: Epic
- Parking: Paid parking at night and weekends with a one-time $20 pass fee
- Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Care Practitioner experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Pediatric, Neonate, and Infant patients
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9, E-Verify attestation)
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card
- Annual background check covering last 7 years, including multiple national and state registries
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- Clinical references: minimum 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment history verification for last 3 clinical employers
- Clear, passport-style badge photo (frontal, shoulders up, business casual attire)
- Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start
- Radiation badge required only if assigned to units with radiation exposure (not applicable for this role)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccination series, or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or documented history with chest x-ray as applicable
- Annual TB questionnaire completion required
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete facility vaccination declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption; documentation must be uploaded before December 5 deadline
Competency Requirements
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blindness testing prior to start
- Competency exam required; pediatric OR competency preferred if applicable
Additional Notes
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with prior approval but is not guaranteed
- All required documents and certifications must be valid and not expiring within 30 days of start date
- Candidates with background or licensure issues require facility approval before proceeding
- Travelers should be prepared for possible emergency assignments during hurricane season
