Physical Therapist Assistant (Inpatient Rehab) - Travel/Contract

Location: Mountain Home, Arkansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Work Environment: Hospital inpatient rehab setting, potential exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids
Schedule: No weekends or on-call required

Job Description

• Provide physical therapy assistance in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital environment.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, push, pull, and occasionally lift up to 250 pounds using proper body mechanics for up to or exceeding 8 hours per day.
• Requires repetitive hand movements, good manual dexterity, keen hearing, and visual acuity.
• Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Basic computer skills required for patient care documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Arkansas.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant, including experience within the last year.

Physical & Safety Requirements

• This position is safety sensitive under Arkansas Act 593 (Medical Marijuana regulations).
• Must handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check: 7-year history within 6 months of start; annual updates required for direct candidates.
• Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card.
• I9 or attestation and E-Verify compliance.
• Education verification.
• State-specific criminal and sex offender checks within 30 days of start.
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant tests not accepted.
• Physical exam: Required within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
• Immunizations and health screenings (must be current or have acceptable declinations where applicable):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low/equivocal titer
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Influenza vaccination or facility-specific declination during flu season (10/1–3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination documentation or exemption notification
• References: 2 professional references within 2-3 years of start.
• Employment application/resume.
• Annual competency exams and skills checklist.
• Facility-specific documents including personal appearance, dress code, TB questionnaire, and orientation acknowledgments.

Certifications (as applicable)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA accepted.
• Other certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC, NIH Stroke Certification) may be required depending on facility or assignment specifics.

Additional Notes

• Fit testing for masks will be completed onsite during orientation.
• Candidate must be able to complete all required documentation and compliance items prior to or shortly after start date.
• No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position.
