Job Opportunity: PTA Home Health

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8 hour days)
Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description

• Provide physical therapy assistance in a home health setting.
• Manage approximately 5 patients per day (about 30 points per week).
• Travel required within Newport News and Yorktown areas, driving 45-60 miles per day.
• No weekend work or on-call duties.
• Office closed on major holidays.
• No requirement to report to a home base before or after shifts.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Virginia
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant, including experience within the last year
• Experience in a Home Health setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license.
• Background check: 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually.
• DMV driving record with at least 5 years of history.
• Virginia State Police Check must be completed and cleared prior to start.
• Physical exam within the last 12 months.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol.
• Drug screen within the last 12 months.
• Required vaccinations or proof of immunity: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with strict deadlines for documentation or approved exemptions.
• COVID vaccination series preferred.
• Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, dress code policy, scrub colors, safety brochure, drug-free policy, hand washing hygiene policy, and sworn disclosure must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
• Recent professional photo for badge (taken within last 6 months) with specific guidelines.

Additional Information

• Mileage reimbursement provided at IRS rate.
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required as applicable.
• Orientation includes pass/fail computer-based learning modules.
• No prior travel experience required.
