Job Opportunity: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)

Location: Marrero, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule options: alternating 3x12-hour shifts one week and 4x12-hour shifts the next, or consistent 4x12-hour shifts.
• Float across multiple units as needed, including CCU, ICU, NICU, Emergency Department, Med-Surg, and Recovery.
• Weekend coverage every other weekend.
• Must have experience with EPIC electronic health record system.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana.
• Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
• Completion of at least one travel assignment.
• Certifications required before or within 30 days of start:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Competencies & Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within 12 months, updated annually, minimum 80% score).
• Competency Exam (within 12 months, updated annually, minimum 80% score).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (within 12 months, updated annually, minimum 80% score).
• Core Competency Parts I, II, and III (annual updates required).

Background & Screening Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, including:

  • Social Security Trace
  • County, Nationwide, Sex Offender, Federal Extended, and FACIS Level 3 checks
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Sex Offender Search per client request.
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, etc.).
• Employment application with 7 years of work history and no gaps over 30 days.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines.
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted under specific conditions.

Additional Information

• Must comply with employee appearance policy.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit assignment.
• Must complete all required documentation and verifications within specified timeframes.

Shift Details

• Day shift: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Approximately 48 hours per week

This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with acute care background and prior travel contract experience, comfortable working varied shifts and floating across multiple critical care and acute units.
