Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 9 Trauma: 45-bed medical/surgical unit focused on trauma patients who are hemodynamically and medically stable.
- Fast-paced specialty medical/surgical unit caring for patients admitted from the emergency department, ICU transfers, or surgical/procedural services.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare).
- Drip management required on all floors.
- Floating required frequently to meet staffing needs, including potential float to other units such as Neuro, Observation, and others within the hospital system.
Schedule & Work Requirements
- 36 or 48-hour shift options available.
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract.
- Floating is mandatory within scope to meet facility needs.
- Locals not accepted; candidate must reside more than 100 miles from the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start; booking six weeks out if not).
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting.
- EPIC electronic charting experience required.
- BLS certification required.
- First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, and NIH Stroke Certification may be required as applicable per unit.
- Must be prepared to float frequently.
- Must be 100% nicotine-free.
Additional Requirements & Information
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and state-specific registry checks required.
- Drug screening within 60 days of start and annually thereafter.
- Immunizations and health documents required: Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, annual flu vaccine documentation or declination, negative TB test or chest x-ray, physical exam, fit mask test, and COVID vaccine preferred (exemptions accepted).
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams required.
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs (facility branded) to be worn.
- Parking permits available for purchase or daily parking rates apply.
- RTO (request time off) blackout dates apply during College World Series (6/11/26 - 6/22/26). Up to two weeks RTO permitted with prior approval.
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but first-time travelers are generally not accepted unless meeting specific experience criteria.
- Floating to multiple units is expected and part of the job scope.
- This is a nicotine-free facility.
