Registered Nurse – Correctional Facility

Location: Marcy, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Shift: Evening (5 days/week, 8 hours/day, 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM)

Job Summary

• Provide direct nursing care to incarcerated individuals.
• Coordinate and supervise Graduate Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and direct care staff.
• Conduct health assessments, develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Diagnose and treat responses to actual or potential health problems through nursing services including case-finding, health teaching, counseling, and supportive care.
• Consult with interdisciplinary treatment teams before administering treatments and nursing procedures.
• Participate as a member of interdisciplinary healthcare teams and health-related committees.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience within the last year, excluding Home Health, Hospice, and School Services.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Additional Requirements

• In-person interview mandatory; phone or online interviews are not permitted.
• Must comply with all background checks and fingerprinting procedures as per New York State regulations.
• Medicaid enrollment documentation may be required for certain facilities (not specified for this assignment).

Work Environment
