Job Description
- Position: Radiation Therapist
- Floating Policy: Agency staff must float to other units or campuses within the health system as needed due to census concerns. Floating will only occur to units where the staff member is qualified and has demonstrated competencies.
Requirements and Compliance
Documentation & Background Checks
- Proof of I9 or Attestation
- Valid Driver's License/State ID (required ASAP for computer access and must be carried on duty)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, including:
- Social Security trace
- Alias searches
- State and county searches for all places lived/worked in last 7 years
- Federal searches as applicable
- FACIS Level 3 search
- Sex offender check
- International searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Fingerprinting required for certain roles and states (e.g., West Virginia)
- Highest level of education verification required (diplomas not accepted as placeholders)
- OFAC Sanctions List Search for all new/pre candidates
Certifications (Must be current and valid, no expiration within 30 days of start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for specific units
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for Pharmacists and RRT
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for pediatric units and ER
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for NICU, Pediatrics, and some RRT roles
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required for ER/ED and Pediatric ER travelers
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – AWHONN required as applicable
- Tech Certification (National) – Must be current and valid
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA, OSHA/TJC training)
- STABLE – Required for L&D and NICU RN travelers
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – Required for ER and Pediatric ER
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Required for RNs in certain units
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health
- State License Verification – Primary source verification required, no pending actions
- NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP licenses
- IV Certification for LVN/LPN/Other (does not expire)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or equivalent for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification – Required annually for specific units
- Miscellaneous certifications as applicable (e.g., Lactation Certificate for Women's RN roles)
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (annual)
- Color Blind Testing (for ED, Pediatric ER, MLT/MLS)
- Competency Exam (annual)
- Core Parts I, II, III (annual training and exams, including OSHA, TJC National Patient Safety Goals)
Health Documents
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must attest ability to meet job demands)
- Respirator Fit Test (completed onsite during orientation)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (required for high-risk areas)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (True 2-step PPD, QF Gold, or Tspot)
- TB Questionnaire (annual)
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing (5-panel, within 1 year and updated annually)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption (required by deadlines; not required for remote workers)
- COVID-19 vaccination no longer required

- Online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
