Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Dubois, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year nursing experience acceptable
• Must hold a Pennsylvania or compact nursing license
• No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Day shifts: 1:5 or 1:7 with LPN
  • Night shifts: 1:6 or 1:8 with LPN

Certifications & Competencies

• Required Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA, ARC, Military accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – required for all travelers
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as required
  • NIH Stroke Certification – required for all RNs, renewed annually
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – required for Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, and Acute Care Units; online training accepted; annual certification required
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • General Competency Exam as applicable

Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Photo for badge (passport style, no filters)
• Background check: 7-year criminal search including SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific searches within 1 year of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Two professional references within 3 years of hire
• Skills checklist required annually
• Education verification required (transcripts, diplomas, or 3rd party verification)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 1 year of start
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting (FBI) within 12 months of start; must be completed in PA

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Tdap vaccination within the past 10 years (declinations accepted with facility form)
• Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 6 months or chest X-ray within 5 years
• Immunizations or declinations for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Nov-April); mask required if declined through 3/31
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination required

Additional Requirements

• Completion of facility-specific documents including orientation packet, medical surveillance checklist, and various vaccine declination forms if applicable
• Bloodborne pathogen quiz completion prior to start
• Alcohol breathalyzer test within 30 days of start (not required for this location)
• Comprehensive Crisis Management certification required for Emergency Department, Behavioral Health, and Acute Care Units (online training accepted; annual certification)

This position is ideal for RNs with at least one year of experience who hold the appropriate licensure and certifications, and who are comfortable working in a travel/contract capacity outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
