Job Description
- Department: Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Oncology
- Key Responsibilities:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (Relias EKG exam required)
- Floating throughout the Oncology department as needed (not always on 9800 unit)
- Auto stem cell transplants
- Chemotherapy administration
- Patient Ratio: 4:1 for all shifts
- Average Daily Census: 30 patients
- Beds/Rooms: 32
- Schedule: Every other weekend required
- Experience: Minimum 1 year required; first-time travelers accepted
- Certifications: BCLS required; chemotherapy certification preferred

Required Exams and Certifications
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia or HSH Basic EKG with Lethal Rhythms (must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually)
- BCLS (Basic Life Support)
- Chemotherapy Certification (preferred)
- Physical Exam (within 1 year of start)
- Drug Testing (within 1 year of start, must include specific panels)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Exemption (required during flu season)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required; no declination for Bone Marrow Transplant Unit)
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray (2 negative PPDs or equivalent test within 1 year)
- Immunizations: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination; no declination allowed in certain units)
- Fit Mask Testing (annual, must pass fit test for N95 respirators)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal Background Check (7-year search, statewide and nationwide as applicable) within 6 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (quarterly)
- Education Verification of highest nursing degree
- State-specific searches and registries as required
- Fingerprinting for Illinois long-term care or rehab units (if applicable)
- Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri licenses)
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific oncology competency exam (updated annually)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification if applicable
- HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Regulatory Compliance Education (annual)
- Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start

- Government-issued ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Two professional references (supervisors preferred)

- Unit-specific skills checklist (Oncology/Outpatient Oncology/Infusion Center skills required)
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions)
- Vehicle registration form for day shift workers (if applicable)
Notes
- Floating within the Oncology department is required; assignment to units depends on greatest need per shift.
- Candidates must be prepared to work every other weekend.
- Facility uses EPIC for charting.
- Scrubs color is navy blue.
- Parking fees apply for day/night rotations; no charge for straight night shifts.
