Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Job Summary

• Deliver coordinated nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and nursing process.
• Supervise and direct activities of assigned nursing staff.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines using critical thinking, professional judgment, and supervisory discretion.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide patient/family education and collaborate with healthcare team members.
• Delegate and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Education & Experience

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Acute care facility experience preferred

Required Certifications

• CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• S.T.A.B.L.E Certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)

Department Information

• Provides antepartum/antenatal and postpartum/postnatal care for maternity patients and normal newborns.
• Includes labor and delivery.
• Gynecology patients are excluded.

Essential Functions

• Collect and analyze patient health data to determine diagnosis and care issues.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans.
• Promote a safe, healing, and humane environment.
• Provide learning opportunities for patients, families, and team members.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Organizational Requirements

• All associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment, with medical and religious exemptions considered.
• Participation in E-Verify is required.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• Must include Social Security Trace, county/state/federal court jurisdictions, OIG, OFAC, SAM, FACIS 3, National Sex Offender, and DMV/MVR if driving is required.
• Background check must be within 30 days of start and cover the last 7 years.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 90 days of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 30 days of start, updated annually.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or positive titer (declinations accepted).
• Immunizations or positive titers required for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella. Declinations accepted with signed documentation.
• Drug testing required within 30 days before start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination/exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 30).
• COVID-19 vaccination series required; medical or religious exemptions considered with facility-specific forms.

Competency Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RNs).
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates).
• Unit-specific competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG, Conscious Sedation, and general competency exams for units such as MS, Tele, ICU, ED, L&D, Postpartum, NICU, Pre-Op, OR, PACU, GI Lab, Cath Lab.

Certifications & Training

• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required depending on unit.
• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certifications required.
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually.
• NIH Stroke Certification required annually.

Facility Specific Documents

• Photo for badge (passport style, high resolution, no filters).
• Waiver of Benefits Acknowledgement, Confidentiality Agreement, and Assignment of Intellectual Property Rights must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
• Contractor Compliance Education Form required prior to hard document due date.

References & History

• Two clinical references verified within one year of start.
• Complete employment application/resume with 7-year work history including locations and gaps.
• Unit-specific skills checklist required.

• This position is night shift focused.
• The hospital serves a diverse rural community with a balance of small-town and cultural diversity.
• Radiation badges are not required for this role.
• Fit mask testing (N95 preferred) is required; onsite testing may be available as a last resort.
