Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Job Description

• Strong preference for experience with adolescent and child populations.
• If no adolescent and child experience, candidate must have 2 years of psychiatric/behavioral health experience and prior travel experience.
• Requires 1.5 to 2 years of recent Psychiatric/Behavioral Health experience (use 2 years as requirement).
• Must be open to working with children, adolescents, and adults across various units.
• Staffing ratios:

  • Days: 1:7
  • Nights: 1:10
  • Weekends: 1:7
• EPIC electronic health record system experience required.
• Shift supervisor, CNO, nurse manager onsite and available; someone on call at all times.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Behavioral Health nursing experience of at least 1.5 years, with experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all positions.
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC) but not specified as mandatory for this role.
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
• Competency exams as applicable.

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start date.
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start date.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start date.
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccination, or declination)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start date.
• Flu vaccine required; no declinations or exemptions accepted.

Background & Documentation

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start date, including SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, and FACIS level 3.
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Proof of I9 or attestation.
• Copy of driver's license/state ID matching state of compact license if applicable.
• E-Verify proof or attestation.
• NURSYS verification as applicable.
• Proof of 2 clinical references required.
• Performance evaluation required if worked with the system over 1 year.
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.

Additional Information

• Local candidates within 50 miles may have different pay rates (not included here).
• Client interviews candidates within 48 hours.
• NIH Stroke Certification required for all units except Pediatrics, OB, and Labor & Delivery; must obtain AHA or APEX NIH certification within the first week if not already held (will not delay start).

This position is ideal for a Behavioral Health RN with strong psychiatric experience, flexibility to work with multiple age groups, and readiness for a travel contract assignment.
