Job Summary
Seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for a home health setting treating adult to geriatric patients. The caseload includes patients with joint replacement/orthopedic aftercare, CVA, osteoarthritis, diabetes, hypertension, CHF, COPD, CKD, dementia, peripheral vascular disease, surgical aftercare, UTI, amputation, wounds (surgical/non-surgical), and cancer.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
- 1st time travelers accepted only if they have applicable home health experience
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- PTA certification required
- State license verification for Georgia required within 30 days prior to start
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Work Details
- Average daily census: 375 patients
- Approximately 7 visits per day
- Home Care Home Base required
- Scrub color: Royal Blue or Black
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Work every other weekend unless otherwise specified
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
- No call requirements
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final approval
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours)
Required Health & Background Documents
- Background check within 30 days of start, including education verification
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if prior positive)
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Work history verification of most recent employer
Additional Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required for RNs/LVNs, not for PTA)
- Color blind testing required for all candidates
- Other competency exams and certifications may apply depending on specialty and unit
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Georgia
- Physical Therapy Assistant with at least 1 year of experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience working with adult patients
- Experience working with geriatric patients
- Experience in a home health setting
