Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General (Pediatrics)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Ultrasound / Pediatrics
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), Friday through Sunday
- No on-call required
- Work location: All in-house, no travel between buildings
- Daily caseload varies
- Potential flexibility to work additional days as needed
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of dedicated pediatric ultrasound experience (2-3 years preferred)
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- ARDMS or ARRT certification required
- Pediatric Ultrasound Skills:
- NEC and TCD experience
- Spines, Liver Doppler (all vessels), Renal Doppler, Renal Transplants
- Extremity Venous Doppler
- Intussusception, Pyloric Stenosis, Appendix, Neonatal Heads
- Preferred: Pediatric hospital experience with liver transplants
- Licensure: South Carolina state ultrasound licensure is not required
- Radiation Badge: Not required for Ultrasound Techs
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted
- No explicit prior travel experience required

Required Documents & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9, E-Verify)
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
- Social Security Card or SSN verification
- Background checks including:
- 7-year history, SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, international searches if applicable
- Education verification (diploma/transcripts)
- References: 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment history verification: last 3 clinical employers
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
- Color blindness testing prior to start
- Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed before orientation
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge
Health & Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if positive history
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug-April)
Certifications Summary
- BLS required for all clinical staff
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for all pediatric units except Pediatric OR
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
- ACLS not required for pediatric units
- Other certifications (TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke) as applicable based on unit
Additional Notes
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with prior approval (not guaranteed)
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- All required documents and certifications must be current and valid (no expiring within 30 days of start)
