Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - IR PACU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: IR PACU Nurse
• Shift: Rotating start times at 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, or 8:00 AM
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (shift times vary based on unit needs)
• Late stays: 3-4 required every 6 weeks
• Patient Population: Must have experience caring for pediatric patients
• Unit Focus: Phase 1 recovery in Interventional Radiology PACU
• Experience Required:

  • Minimum 1 year ICU experience
  • IR PACU experience required

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - must be willing to obtain prior to start if not currently held
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) accepted in lieu of PALS
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, TNCC, CHEMO, NRP, EFM, CPI)

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse with IR PACU and ICU experience
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year ICU experience (highest required)
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background checks including county and national criminal searches, sex offender search, FACIS III, education verification, and transcript/diploma verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive history
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or boosters
  • Hepatitis B immunity or declination
  • Varicella immunity or booster
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • COVID vaccination series or approved exemption (booster preferred but not required)
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam (facility-specific, must pass to continue)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (including pediatric medication exam if applicable)
• Unit-specific competency exams (renewed annually)
• Color Blind Testing (within 1 year)
• RN Math Ability Competency Exam (annual)
• Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (if applicable)
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for ICU, PACU, and other critical units

Additional Requirements

• References: Two professional references verified within 6 months of start, preferably from direct supervisors
• Employment history verification for the past 7 years
• Skills checklists updated annually
• Various facility-specific non-clinical agreements and policies must be signed prior to start

• Local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted for this position.
• Candidates must have a renewal plan in place for any certifications or documents expiring during the contract.
• PALS certification is not required at the time of submission but must be obtained prior to starting the assignment.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with IR PACU and ICU backgrounds who are comfortable with pediatric care and flexible shift start times.
