Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - PICU
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Job Title: RRT PICU
- Shift: Days or nights assigned based on facility need (not a true alternating shift)
- Patient Ratios: 1:4
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Guaranteed Hours: Up to 36 hours per week
- Floating: Yes, within scope to CCU, Flex Unit, SDU, PEDS, PICU, PCU, FBS
- Local Radius Rule: 50 miles (locals not accepted)
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Patient Diagnoses: Respiratory therapy for Level 2 ER/PICU/NICU trauma, CCU, floor therapy, high acuity population
- Special Equipment: Servo U-V60, HFNC
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum 4 years in specialty
- First-Timers: Not accepted
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Preferred Experience: PICU, NICU, and Adult ICU experience preferred
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
License Requirements
- Must have an active Alaska State Respiratory Therapist license prior to starting
- Compact license accepted at time of submission but AK license required before start
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam (renewed annually)
- Fit mask test with approved facility mask within 1 year of start (must be completed prior to arrival)
- Proof of immunizations or titers for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, titer, or facility-specific declination)
- Varicella
- Negative TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or PPD) within 1 year or chest X-ray if positive
- TB questionnaire annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical exemption (declinations not accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination required (initial series or approved exemptions; declinations not accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
Additional Requirements
- Background checks including SS trace, county searches, and sex offender search (within 90 days)
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required for Allied Health positions
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and general competency exams
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding and orientation tasks prior to start
- Personal data, confidentiality, and non-employee agreements must be signed prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references required

- Floating assignments may include critical care and pediatric units
- Facility is an acute care, Magnet-designated hospital with 152 staffed beds
- Parking is free for travelers
